- Assume the following role and describe a situation in which ethical
considerations play an important part in guiding your decisions and
actions:
a. You are a student in an introductory accounting course.
As a student you are expected to abide by the code of ethics and present
yourself as an honest and respectful person in any situation. You are
expected to provide truthful information on your application, financial
aid forms, and in your class work. As a student you are to do the
work from your own creation and not copy the work of someone else’s
creation. Cheating in order to gain a better grade is dishonest and is
not considered ethically correct under no circumstance. You are
expected to represent your school in a respectful way, which goes back
to following the code of ethics.
Sci 230 - b. You are a manager with responsibility for several employees.
A
manager should always act in the best interest of the employees that
they are responsible for. A manager should always stay clear of making
inaccurate or misleading accusations that would benefit the manager.
It is a manager’s responsibility to obey the current laws for standards
and procedures that may change from time to time. The manager should
participate in continuing education classes to stay current with the
standards and procedures of the law and the company. A manager should
also refrain from showing any type of favoritism towards any employee.
Acc225 - c. You are an accounting professional preparing tax returns for clients.
When
preparing tax returns for a client an accounting professional should
build a trustworthy relationship with this client. There should be an
adequate amount of communication with the client. In doing this the
accountant should obey all the laws governing the practice of tax
preparation and they also should keep the highest standards in honesty. Acc 225
